Amy Ruede

My husband, Jim, and I have been married 20 years and live on his family’s homeplace in Pipe Creek. We have two daughters, Jamie, a sophomore at BHS and Jenna, an 8th grader at BMSN. I graduated from Lake Travis High School and Texas A&M University in College Station with a BS in Kinesiology. I have been coaching basketball for 22 years and am proud to have been a Greyhound since 2009.
My why is the athletes. I coach to build relationships with athletes that are bigger than the sport. The life lessons and character building that come with playing sports is tremendous. When I hear from my athletes, they come back to see me, text me and tell me they remembered something I taught them, get invited to their college graduations and weddings, I know I have fulfilled my role.
My favorite coaching memory is making it to the regional final in Kingsville after beating Fredericksburg and Burnet in the Regional Quarters and Semis. We met up with Liberty Hill who had 6’7 Sedona Prince. Oversized and battered from a tough season, the team battled and they did it together. Those girls loved and played for each other.
